Mission: To lead the design and development of internal management tools for Unilever, streamlining product creation processes and managing packaging copy across various Unilever brands.
Key Activities:
Worked onsite with Unilever's client team to lead the design of CARA, an internal product management tool.
Summarized business needs and design requirements to guide the initial design effort and launch the first version of the MVP.
Designed CARA to help Unilever staff create new products and manage packaging copy for all Unilever brands, including packaged food, beauty care, and healthcare.
Led the design of CPS, a tool integrating multiple third-party software into a single interface with complex user permissions.
Ensured CPS provided oversight over all Unilever brands at national and global levels.
Worked with stakeholders to summarize needs and users, creating a provisional sitemap for the development team to estimate effort and scope.
Designed CPS to provision new websites for seasonal campaigns or new product lines, manage analytics and tracking campaigns, and create interactive forms while respecting various privacy and data frameworks (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, Chinese data management policies).
Created a UI library based on Unilever's brand guide and mock-ups of different views and functionalities for user testing and final rollout.
Outcomes:
Successfully launched the first version of the MVP for CARA, enhancing Unilever's product creation and packaging copy management processes.
Enabled Unilever staff to efficiently manage product development and packaging across multiple brands.
Delivered CPS tool that streamlined the integration of third-party software, providing a single interface for complex user permissions and marketing management.
Allowed Unilever's marketing team to quickly introduce new brands into existing markets while maintaining coordinated messaging and compliance with privacy and data policies.
Completed the project on time, with the new CPS tool rolled out by the end of 2018, supporting Unilever's presence in over 190 countries.
